A heartfelt and honest look at the plight of the civilians of Ukraine and the volunteers that have embraced them as family amid a war-torn countryside. Told from the point of view of the filmmakers who relocated to Romania after deciding to reach out to their neighbors through their gift of cooking. Interviews and stories from refugees and those who refuse to leave will give you a new perspective on the toll that barbaric aggression has left them with.
“If you truly want to help Ukraine, then let our voices be heard: Stop the war!”
This is what we heard repeatedly on our first 2-day visit to Ukraine in March, 2022 from our neighbours – the Ukrainians.
Dave and I are filmmakers who went to Ukraine to support local humanitarian efforts on the ground. We came out realizing we have a further purpose: to film and document what we have seen and experience in Ukraine and share it with the world.
Now -almost a year later, the documentary Film, “Thy Neighbours is almost finished! The filming was completed in December, and we just received the final edit from our editor, at 85 minutes in length.
Our purpose with this film is to tell the story of many of the Ukrainian mothers that we have met. To show you the fear they felt as the Russians sent missile after missile into churches, hospitals, schools and into civilian housing areas, their homes. We want you to share their grit, show you how they survived underground, hiding and caring for their children. And we hope you will see the love that blooms from such violence and chaos, the love for their family, their children and their country. We want the entire world to see how the Ukrainians are standing up and persevering. But they can't do it alone. We hope our film will be used as an educational tool to spread the word and to bring more help and assistance to these beautiful strong people.
We want to thank all our supporters from the bottom of our hearts for your help and encouragement along the way - we could not have done it without you.
We finally see the light at the end of the tunnel as we enter the last phases of post-Production which consist of:
God willing, we expect that it will take about 1-2 month to complete this whole post-production stage and fully finish the film.
Once all of this is finished, we will complete and release the OFFICIAL TRAILER, poster and all the marketing & PR materials before finally releasing the film to the world.
Dave and I have done this as volunteer work for the last year- but the rest of the team we must pay. We hope to have your help to make it possible for us to do the crucial and final stage of this film which is the post-production. If enough people contribute, we can finish the film and release it to a global audience.
As well as the noble act of supporting Ukrainians, educating, and spreading awareness to the wider community - those of you who have supported us in our journey will also have their name mentioned in the credits at the end of the film. If you do not wish to have your name mentioned in the credits, please email, and advise us of this, by March 21st.
You will also receive a link to watch the film once it is completed and launched.
Again, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your interest in supporting us.
Love,
Dave and Elena
